Spring / Summer 2010
Eugenia Kim Bio
A red guinea-feather cloche made quite the commotion as it paraded around SoHo one winter day in ’98. Eugenia Kim was using the ‘hair like’ hat that she made at Parsons School of Design as a cover up for her hairless head she received after a bad haircut.
Numerous store owners were attracted to the design. Fresh out of a yearlong stint at Allure Magazine, Eugenia Kim was inspired by the opportunity and ready for the challenge. By the end of the day she had appointments to show her collection. The next week her hand made cloches were in store windows.
By the end of the month Barneys New York had placed their first order.
Spring/Summer 2010 Inspiration
Through out the early to mid 90's grunge made an impact in culture and fashion. Eugenia Kim decided to borrow from the unpolished era with her choices of neutral colours and tones. There are pops of hues mimicking graffiti. Influence from the artist Mark Rothko to add spice to the collection.
Along with the mood of the new line, Eugenia Kim has added hints of surrealism with crafty bows and unique trims.
Eugenia Kim keeps the designs simple, and continues to evolving the brand.
