Menswear Spring/Summer 2012

The Fred Perry Menʼs Authentic collection for Spring Summer 2012 presents classic sportswear product that can be worn both on and off the sports field. There are three main stories within the collection - ʻTeam Travelʼ, ʻTrack and Fieldʼ and the ʻChampions Kitʼ.

Team Travel

Teams, whether they are representing small clubs or their country, have pride and an image to uphold! This is particularly the case when on tour, so the first main story within the collection focuses on the more formal elements of ʻteam travelʼ creating a sharp, 1960ʼs inspired casual look. This can be seen in the Umpires Jacket in navy, a garment that will smarten up any sportsman representing their team. For a sharp but more relaxed feel the Lightweight Harrington in dark carbon is the jacket of choice. This can then be paired with either the classic chino in ecru or, for an alternative look, the Fine Stripe trouser in porcelain and olympian.

Track and Field

Fred Perryʼs history is founded on developing suitable sports clothing to train and perform in. Within ʻtrack and fieldʼ we look back to this heritage of simple, classic clothing with low tech detailing. This can be seen in the Sweat T-Shirt in vintage steel marl and the Over-Dyed Crew Neck Sweat in mineral red teamed with the Chambray or Gingham short for flexibility and movement. For further comfort and warmth on the track the Over-Dyed Hooded Zip Through Sweat in pacific is a must.

Championʼs Kit

The Championʼs Kit is the must-have apparel required by every competitive sportsman. Styles include a Henley collar t-shirt in ecru with ʻChampionsʼ multi-colour taping within the inner placket and a woven gold Laurel Wreath. The Track and Field Polo Shirt is the second addition to the kit and available in both ecru and black. This bears the ʻChampionsʼ tipping and a privet felt patch with an embroidered gold Laurel Wreath. The ecru Track and Field Bomber Jacket complements the shirts and features the same Laurel Wreath patch with tipping on the cuffs and collar. Accessories include a bag and shoe; the cream Canvas Deconstructed Barrel Bag with ʻChampionsʼ striping detail and the Beresford Canvas Shoe with woven gold Laurel Wreath available in both cream and black.

Womenswear Spring/Summer 2012

The S/S 12 Womenʼs Authentic ʻChampion Tour Kitʼ demands formality and a sporty yet casual elegance. The brands archive of sportswear styles is a wealth of inspiration for this collection which features three stories – Team Travel, Track and Field and Downtime.

Team Travel

Team travel presents a smarter look for the sportswoman who is travelling with her team before competing. Key pieces include the High Waisted Chino in oyster and High Waisted Chambray Short in kit blue, both of which are fitted with waist adjusters based on those found on vintage Fred Perry shorts. These can then be worn with the Fred Perry Classic Gingham Shirt available in gingersnap and kit blue or the Chambray Racer Back Vest in blue jay, the latter style is a conventionally technical sport feature which gives a slightly looser, laid back feel. To complete the look Fred Perry introduces a traditional three pocket blazer, made with 100% cotton. This lightweight jacket is the ideal smart outerwear for a cool Summer's day.

Track and Field

For the sportswoman perfecting her skill out on the track, Fred Perryʼs Crew Neck Sweat in both kit blue and vintage red and Sweat Dress in vintage steel marl are the perfect comfort wear. In classic sportswear style, colour blocking can be seen throughout the collection. This can be found on the cotton Jersey Vest, Colour Block T-Shirt and Jersey Dress. The range also references lo tech natural fabrics such as hemp with a cotton mix and the colours complement this with a palette that has a strong retro feel featuring gingersnap orange, vintage ivory white and kit blue - all of which enhance the faded vintage look.

Downtime

Relaxing off duty, this sportswoman is in holiday mode. Fred Perry prints give a fun, feminine touch to the collection. This can be seen in the Summer Check Button Down Shirt Dress in sweetcorn, made with a seer sucker fabric this gives the top a more laid back feel. The printed cap sleeve shirt with itʼs clean graphic leaf print available in snow white or kit blue and the irregular polka dot Shirt Dress in black with red and ivory are both based on original 1940ʼs prints and add a touch of elegance to the underlying sport theme. The key pieces to finish off any traditional Fred Perry look are the lightweight Duffle Coat in oyster or kit blue and the Chambray Parka in cloudburst, both perfect for a summer evening stroll after competing all day.
