THE HISTORY OF LONSDALE

Lonsdale Sports Equipment LTD. was founded by Bernard Hart. A professional and amateur boxer for 12 years and an experienced sports retailer. Hart was given permission to use the Lonsdale name by James Lowther, the 7th Earl of Lonsdale.

Although beginning as a business designing „stuff“ for fighters the practical garments in cotton fleece, interlock jersey, pique, towelling and satin quickly made their mark as fashion garments. It soon appeared that the whole world to be seen wearing LONSDALE along with the sports and entertainment personalities.
